Formerly know as New Councillor Toolkit. This training is specifically designed for new councillors and aims to provide you with the essential knowledge and skills to effectively serve your community. This course will help you understand the origins of the sector, the legislation that governs it, the national agenda and the role GALC and NALC play to support you in your role.

What You Will Complete:

  • Part 1: Introductory Webinar: A 60-minute introduction to the parish sector, GALC, NALC and the role of a councillor.

  • Part 2: Council Meetings: You participated in two council meetings, observing the dynamics and understanding the practical aspects of council operations.

  • Part 3: E-learning Module: You completed the "Introduction to Local Councils" e-learning module, which covered fundamental concepts and practices.

  • Part 4: Feedback Webinar: A 60-minute feedback session with GALC to consolidate your learning, ask questions and note observations.
