This session concludes the New Councillor Induction module. This training is specifically designed for new councillors and aims to provide you with the essential knowledge and skills to effectively serve your community. The introductory webinar details the origins of the sector, the legislation that governs it, the role of the county association (GALC), the work conducted on your behalf by the national association (NALC) and what support if available to you via both. This feedback session aims to bring together all your observations from the introductory session, your e-learning and the meetings you have attended, and provide a space for discussion and next steps.

What You Will Complete:

  • Part 1: Introductory Webinar: A 60-minute introduction to GAPTC and the role of a councillor.

  • Part 2: Council Meetings: You participated in two council meetings, observing the dynamics and understanding the practical aspects of council operations.

  • Part 3: E-learning Module: You completed the "Introduction to Local Councils" e-learning module, which covered fundamental concepts and practices.

  • Part 4: Feedback Webinar: A 60-minute feedback session with GAPTC to consolidate your learning, ask questions and note observations.
